-
- DSPACE : reports on installed hard disk capacity and disk
- space available. Shows information on up to 10
- drives on one screen if you are using a standard 25 line
- screen display (more if you use a screen with a greater
- number of lines) in double spacing mode; shows all drives
- if in single spacing mode.
-
- If you are not connected to a network you should be able
- to show all logged drives using double spacing mode, which
- gives a clearer display. This mode is the default in the
- shipped version of DSPACE 6.0. If you have more than 10
- logged drives, they will not all be shown on standard 25
- line screens. You can select single line mode via a command
- line option (see below). You can also customize DSPACE
- so that single line mode is the display.
-
- The following illustrates the difference between the two modes.

-
- Usage: dspace [param1] [param2] [param3] ......
-
- where paramx has the following form:
-
- omitted - show all drives starting with c (and ending after 11
- if more than that)
-
- c - show drive c only
-
- c d e - show drives c, d and e
-
- c-g - show drives c to g
-
- +d - show all drives starting at d (until 10 have been shown
- if in double spacing mode)
-
- *n - select line spacing - n = 1 for single, 2 for double.
- NOTE: if you use this switch and you wish to exclude a
- particular drive or drives you MUST also use one
- of the "include drive" parameters
-
- -f - omit drive f
-
- Examples:
-
- dspace : lists all available drives starting at c
- until the limit of 11 per screen is reached
-
- dspace +e : lists all available drives starting at e
- until the limit of 10 per screen is reached
- in double space mode, or all drives if in
- single space mode
-
- dspace e-h : lists all available drives starting at e
- and ending at h
-
- dspace e-h -f : lists all available drives starting at e
- and ending at h, but omits drive f
-
- dspace *1 -g : will not work - see NOTE above. Correct usage
- would be dspace *1 +c -g
-
-
- NOTE: the parameters are evaluated left to right; it is possible
- to overwrite some parameters. For example, dspace e-h -f c-g
- would list all drives between c and g
-
-
- Customizing: you can change the default DSPACE parameters by running
- DSPCFG.COM. Parameters that can be changed are display
- colors, "gas gauge" characters, default line spacing and
- video display speed. Running DSPCFG creates an executable
- file DSPACEN.COM.
-
- Usage: dspcfg [flename]
-
- filename omitted, looks for correct version of DSPACE.COM
- filename given, converts that executable IF it is a valid
- copy of current version of DSPACE.COM
-
- +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
-
- SMEM
-
- Purpose: gives normal and extended RAM installed and RAM currently free,
- and gives total bytes available and bytes free on specified drive.
-
- Usage: smem [drive] [/n]
-
-
- Examples:
-
- smem - gives total and available capacity of current drive,
- and installed and available conventional RAM, plus
- installed extended memory (if any) and memory configured
- as XMS (if any) and EMS (expanded, if any). IT IS POSSIBLE
- THAT THE XMS AND EMS ROUTINES MAY CAUSE SMEM TO HANG. IF
- THIS IS THE CASE USE DEBUG AND SET SMEM TO OMIT XMS/EMS
- ROUTINES (SEE CUSTOMIZATION INFORMATION).
-
- smem a - as above, but reports on drive A
-
- Customizing: SMEM can be automatically customized by running the program
- SMEMCFG.COM. You can change the default color and the characters used for
- the "gas gauge" display of drive space uses. You can
- also change the default normal video speed to fast video if your
- system will allow it (just try it). You can also choose whether
- SMEM calculates XMS and EMS memory parameters. Running
- SMEMCFG creates an executable file SMEMN.COM.
-
- Usage: smemcfg [flename]
-
- filename omitted, looks for correct version of SMEM.COM
- filename given, converts that executable IF it is a valid
- copy of current version of SMEM.COM

- Look for the following shareware on this BBS (Please note:
- package names may differ on Compuserve. Try a key word search).
-
- VGAPAL40.ZIP - customize up to 4 VGA text color palettes, choosing from more
- than 2600000 colors! (And see how many you can actually discern!).
- One palette can be used to create a small (2k) TSR program that
- maintains your chosen scheme. Alternatively, you can set any of
- the palettes, or a grey-scale scheme, from a non-TSR if
- memory is a problem.
-
-
- DDIRV81.ZIP - double-column non-scrolling directory display that
- highlights new files, flags system, hidden and read-only files,

- down in the file list. (CIS - DIRDPY.ZIP)
-
- ADR60.ZIP - address and telephone number filer, and label maker. Suitable
- for personal databases or for small clubs etc. Ideal for finding
